Trekking the Andes
Trip Highlights
Trek the Venezuelan Andes. This is an interesting tour for visiting small wilderness towns, cloudy leafy forests, imposing views valleys, and the true Andes settlers. The trek starts in Gavidia village after a drive from Mérida City. The first trek is very uninhabited with large spaces and cowherds. Next, El Carrizal, a dense well-preserved rain forest, and Alto la Aguada, a small village surrounded by rivers. Along the way, you will sleep in a tent or farmers’ houses and the hosts will prepare tasty, traditional corn “arepas” for breakfast!
