Trip Highlights

In this tour visit the Pantanal of Mato Grosso and The Chapada dos Guimarães National Park. The Brazilian Pantanal is a vast grassy lowland at the heart of South America that is home to the greatest concentration of wildlife on the continent and one of the world's best birding areas. Birding from the Transpantaneira road (a dead-end dirt road) can produce over 100 species in a day and chances to spot rare animals such as Giant Anteater, Marsh Deer, Giant Otter and even Jaguars. The Chapada dos Guimarães National Park is surrounded by savanna-like vegetation with some Amazonian semi-deciduous forest that support a number of species not found in the Pantanal. It is also home to more than 50 archaeological sites with prehistoric cave pictures and animal fossils. It is a natural Brazilian heritage.
