DAY 1. Caracas - Orinoco Delta
Day 2. Orinoco DeltaEarly in the morning (9:00 a.m.) we will fly from Caracas to Puerto Ordaz (Orinoco Delta Region). From there, you will be transferred to our camp. Check into your cabin where you can rest a little. The Lodge is an attractive complex of 37 individual comfortable cabins with a dinning and bar area overlooking the river. The rooms are 'open', the windows covered by a mesh to keep the mosquitos out and a palm covered roof. At night you lay on the bed with the sounds of the jungle outside and the twinkling lights of the fireflies in the trees. Electricity goes off around 11 p.m. but you are given candles, you should also take a torch just in case. The paths to the main area are lit with flamed torches at night time. During the day you can spot all sorts of wildlife around the camp. Lunch will be served at 1:00 p.m. After lunch, you will take a boat ride through small rivers to observe the flora and fauna, the fresh water dolphins and a spectacular Orinoco Delta sunset. Back to the main camp at 6:30 pm where dinner will be served at 8:00 p.m. ( - / L / D ) Wake up to the jungle sounds and eat breakfast at 8:00 AM. After breakfast take a remote area of the Delta (Guinamorena), heading to Jakara Camp (rustic but comfortable our latest addition). Lunch will be served at the camp in the Jungle. In the afternoon we take a canoe ride to visit the Warao Indians and learn a few interesting facts about their life style and survival techniques. In the evening we take a night trip to search for alligators before or after dinner depending on the river conditions. Sleeping in Hammocks, shared bathroom. ( B / L / D ) Day 3. Orinoco Delta After breakfast we board the canoes again and venture deep in the jungle through a very small river. Your Indian guide will locate an excellent spot for a perfect jungle trek. For those of you who have never been in the jungle before (most guests), the experience is unforgettable. With the silence of the jungle occasionally interrupted by freaky bird’s screams and the pungent smells around you blending with a blanket of humidity. There are dense galleries of crawling plants and giant trees racing for rations of scarce sun light, a perfect none human system in an imperfect human world. Back to camp for lunch. After lunch a visit to Guenamorena Indian community, in the afternoon we return to the lodge and to the comfort of your beds and private bathrooms. ( B / L / D ) Day 4. Orinoco Delta – Caracas After breakfast take a boat trip to fish the fierce infamous piranhas. If you catch any we can fry them for a snack. After lunch, you will be transferred to Puerto Ordaz to take a flight back to Caracas. ( B / L / - ). Total Breakfast (B); Lunch (L); Dinner (D) B = 3 / L =4 / D = 3
