Trip Highlights:
  • Some people are looking for something really different or want to take a special kind of trip — bird watching, diving, or a tour of the high points — that is simply VIP all the way. If this is what you are looking for, then this is your tour!
  • Visit the second largest national park in Venezuela, which astonishes visitors with the drama of its spectacular landscapes and biological diversity. Its signature landmarks are the tepuis, unique rock formations that rise up out of the surroundings to create huge ecological islands (the most famous, Roraima, inspired Conan Doyle's novel, The Lost World) punctuated by waterfalls, including Angel Falls, the planet’s highest. In 1994, Canaima National Park was declared a World Heritage Site.
  • Visit two of the most renown Caribbean destinations in Venezuela – Los Roques National Park and Isla Margarita

Day 1: Caracas Airport - Catia La Mar

Meet a Turpial Travel assistant at the Maiquetía airport in Caracas. Our assistant will welcome you to Venezuela, answer all your questions, and transfer you to your hotel. Overnight at a hotel.

Day 2: Catia La Mar - Caracas Airport - Los Roques National Park

Early in the morning, you will be picked up from the hotel and transferred to the airport to take a flight to Los Roques National Park. After you have checked-in, spend the rest of the day at a nearby key. In the evening, take some time to walk around the colorful fishing village and enjoy a wonderful dinner at the posada. Overnight at an all inclusive posada.

Day 3: Los Roques National Park

Spend the day exploring one of your own private keys. Your time can be spent lying on a white sandy beach watching the yachts in the distance, reading a book or just relaxing in the turquoise blue waters. If you feel like snorkeling, diving, canoeing, kayaking, windsurfing or taking ultra light aircraft flights over the archipelago, these activities can be arranged at an additional cost. Overnight at a an all-inclusive posada.

Day 4: Los Roques National Park - Caracas Airport - Margarita Island

In the morning, fly to Margarita Island (with a connection in Caracas). Margarita Island comes from the Greek word "pearl" and it is indeed a true pearl. With its great nightlife, variety of restaurants, bars, discos, nightclubs and casinos, as well as miles of coast to do a variety of activities, Margarita offers many options to enjoy a superb vacation. Overnight at an all-inclusive hotel.

Day 5: Margarita Island

If today you feel like doing something outside of the resort, spend some time shopping or site seeing in the center of town. In Avenida Santiago Mariño and Avenida 4 de Mayo there are plenty of places to go shopping. This is the place to find French perfumes and local wares, as well as many restaurants, bars, discos, and hotels. Other activities to do in the center of town include: a visit to the Francisco Narvaes Contemporary Art Museum, the Saint Nicolas de Bari Church in front of the Plaza Bolivar, and/or the Laguna Las Marites Natural Monument which offers a peaceful alternative to the hustle and bustle of the streets and shops.

Day 6: Margarita Island

If today you are seaking peace and seclusion, go to the beaches in the eastern side of the island (i.e. Guacuco and Cardon beach, followed by Parguito beach which is ideal for surfing). Further along is Playa El Agua with its row of coconut trees and beach restaurants. Across from Playa El Agua is Los Frailes Islands, whose surrounding coral reefs and abundant marine life are an attraction for diving and snorkeling. Further north, you will find Zaragoza, Caribe and Juangriego, and La Galera- two famous bays with extraordinary views. Juangriego is the main commercial center of the northern part of the island. The sunsets here are spectacular, and the local seafood dishes are delicious!

Otherwise, peninsula de Macanao offers the untouched natural landscapes, deserted beaches, diverse bird species and ancestral traditions. For nature enthusiasts, Margarita houses two national parks and three natural reserves with local colonies of scarlet ibis, flamingos and an endemic parrot species named "cotorra margariteña". Specifically, El Parque Nacional Cerro Copey offers an opportunity to observe native species of trees, and a variety of birds.

The villages of San Francisco, Boca de Rio, Boca del Pozo, Robledal, and El Tunal are as austere as the landscape. As you travel through the area you will see many birds that are typical of semi-arid regions, like the yellow shouldered parrot. Other common species include the cardinal and the Tourpial (oriole). A paved road takes you from Boca del Rio to Punta Arenas, a peaceful beach of crystalline waters. If you follow the coastline you will reach Boca del Pozo and Robledal, both typical fishing villages with their unique shore carpentry, and finally la Pared beach to the north. Other secluded beaches like El Farol, La Mula, and La Auyama can be reached with 4-wheel drive vehicles.

If Margarita is not enough, neighboring Coche Island, a 55 kilometer island home to 35,000 inhabitants, is dedicated to fishing, shrimp farming and tourism. Its dry landscapes of yellow and orange rock by the deep blue sea are memorable.

NOTE: These are just ideas of things you can do in Margarita. The excursions are not included in your package.

Day 7: Margarita Island - Puerto Ordaz/Ciudad Guayana

From Margarita Island take a flight to Puerto Ordaz. Overnight at a hotel.

Day 8: Canaima National Park & Angel Falls - Puerto Ordaz/Ciudad Guayana

Early in the morning take a flight to Canaima National Park. From the camp you will see the most amazing waterfalls from the hotel. Take an afternoon Frog Falls excursion where you will travel through the Canaima Lagoon and see the “Hacha”, “Golondrina” and “Ucaima” Falls. Walk through the “Frog” and “Little Frog” Falls. Return to the main lodge for dinner. If you are lucky, you will see one of the region’s magical large blue butterflies. Overnight at an all-inclusive lodge.

Day 9: Canaima National Park & Angel Falls

Today you will explore Kavac, a beautiful canyon with clear waters and colorful rock carved out of Auyantepuy, the Angel Falls mountain. Take a 15 min flight from Canaima on a light aircraft (Cessna 206). Fly over the Carrao River and see the majestic Angel Falls. After you land on the Indian village of Kavac, at the foot of the Auyantepui, take a 20 minute walk through savannah and forest, until you reach a cave with a small creek. Walk by the small river and reach the cave entrance. This is the deepest part of the river and guests are assisted in passing with a rope that reaches to the bottom of the cave, where you will find an impressive waterfall. From the vault of the cave there is a magnificent view of the sky as well as of the cascade enclosed within the rock walls. A good swim in this natural pool will guarantee you longevity and will stimulate an appetite you can satisfy on your return to the Indian camp. After lunch you will have the opportunity to get acquainted with the Indian community and buy some Indian crafts before heading back to Canaima. Overnight at an all-inclusive lodge.

Day 10: Canaima National Park & Angel Falls

Get up at 4:30 AM for some breakfast (Coffee, Milk, Cookies) before heading out to Angel Falls . Take a jeep ride to Puerto Ucaima where you will embark on a curiara down the river. From there you will navigate on the curiara for about 15 minutes until you reach the Rapids of Mayupa. At this point, you will get off and walk for 30 minutes to the other side where you will get on the boat again to continue canoeing up through the Carrao River. At the Orchid Island (Isla Orquidea), the group will stop for a snack. After some refreshment, the journey continues until you reach “Isla Raton”. Upon arrival you will stop a minute at our shelter as we prepare to trek to the “Mirador Laime” (the nearest accessible point to Angel Falls) where you will enjoy a view of the spectacular falls. After taking some photos and hearing the roar of the water, return to the shelter to have lunch. After lunch, we begin our journey back to the camp in Canaima. Overnight at an all-inclusive lodge.

Day 11: Canaima National Park & Angel Falls - Puerto Ordaz/Ciudad Guayana - Caracas Airport - Catia La Mar
